Job Summary

As an upstream analyst you will be responsible for providing economic analysis and insights to help clients screen investment opportunities and understand the upstream sector. Working within a collaborative team of economists, engineers and geologists, the core of the role is financial modelling of oil and gas fields, maintaining our library of asset valuations. This includes forecasting oil and gas production, developing project cost estimates, understanding development challenges, and evaluating upstream economics. You will also leverage this individual field analysis to evaluate companies’ upstream portfolios and assess wider market dynamics, publishing reports and providing insight directly to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

· Research and track investment and development trends within the upstream sector

· Build detailed asset valuations for major oil and gas projects

· Ensure quality of upstream data and analysis within assigned region of coverage

· Author topical insight pieces relating to upstream development trends

· Respond to specific client queries and participate in ad-hoc consulting projects

Skills & Experience:

· At least 2 years experience in the upstream sector with an exploration and production company, equipment and services provider or consultancy.

· Degree in economics, engineering, geology or related discipline

· Experience working with discounted cash flow models and petroleum economics

· Analytical and detail oriented mind-set

· Ability to express complex ideas in a concise manner

· Proficiency with Excel and wider office suite

· Relevant language skills, particularly French or Arabic
