Environmental Permitting Advisor
Location – flexible on base location (preferably based in the midlands or the south) - will be travelling around the UK.
Salary: Circa £28,000 + Company Vehicle + Bonus

What you’ll do
Work with the permit managers with preparation of environmental permit applications, information gathering, production of supporting information in order to facilitate the permitting process for all operational sites across the UK and Ireland. To provide support and advice to operational sites in order to enable compliance with environmental permits.
The environmental permits are critical for the functioning of the sites and can have financial implications for the business if incorrect or inaccurate. The variety of the work and projects you will cover is vast, from small scale Household Waste Sites to large scale Energy Recovery Facilities helping to provided innovative solutions to the permitting needs of the business across the breadth of the country.
You will assist with the preparation of applications for other statutory legal requirements such as trade effluent consents, exemptions. You will need to manage all stages of the permitting process in order to deliver good quality permits and manage the expectations and timescales of both operators and the regulator.
To review the work of consultants working on behalf of the company on matters such as air dispersion modelling, odour dispersion modelling, noise and vibration modelling.
This is not a desk bound job, you will be out on sites 2 to 3 times a week liaising with operational staff, project managers and the regulator in order to deliver permits that are fit for purpose and workable, managing the permit process from start to completion and commissioning of the site.
Experience you will need
We are looking for an applicant who will develop into the role, however you must display a passion for the environment, be degree (or similar) educated and ideally have knowledge of legislation gained in environmental regulation or similar.
We do not expect you to be an expert in permitting as you will be provided with training and develop your knowledge as you learn on the job.
You will need to be a confident communicator to be able to present to management and challenge perceptions of the on-site teams. You will need to be flexible with travel and overnight stays and possess a full UK driving license.
