Bidwells have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Planner to join our head office in Cambridge, with work opportunities across the UK.
While the role is predominantly based in our newly refurbished, lively head office, however we are a firm who has fully embraced agile working. Our priority is to find the right person, so we’re open to discussing different working options.
We would like to talk to Environmental Planners with ideally 1 to 2 years’ experience to join our rapidly growing EIA team. It is an exciting time of growth for us and you would be supported to also grow quickly as a professional. If you aren't yet a member of IEMA or a Chartered RTPI Planner, we can help you get there.
We offer competitive salary packages, and the chance to benefit from the success of the business through our profit share schemes. Our benefits package features pension, private healthcare, enhanced maternity pay, life insurance and discretionary bonus. As well as rewarding you through remuneration, we will give you the chance to really stand out and make your mark.
Minimising the environmental impact of our clients’ proposed developments is something we take very seriously – to the extent that Bidwells are recognised by IEMA as being at the forefront of good practice and expertise in EIA. This is reflected by our firmwide IEMA EIA Quality Mark Accreditation. We are one of only four property consultancies with this accreditation.
We are slightly different from many EIA teams as we are Chartered RTPI Town Planners and embedded within a planning team. This means we are commercially driven and have a wide understanding of the planning process. We work as part of multidisciplinary teams to give us unparalleled insight into the dynamics of commercial, residential and rural development.
As an Environmental Planner you will be working on a range of developments as part of planning and design teams. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the co-ordination of EIA projects, working with a range of specialists and architects;
- Researching and writing Environmental Statements and additional reports required throughout the planning process;
- Liaise with planning case officers, consultees and clients; and
- Proactively help shape a growing team.
- BSc in relevant subject;
- Upwards of 1 years’ relevant experience;
- Excellent verbal and written skills;
- Knowledge and understanding of UK environmental planning regulations;
- Enjoy working as part of a team and keen to take responsibility; and
- Ability to think creatively and innovatively to help inform design and strategies.
We’re a different kind of business. Whilst we’re a major player in the property sector Bidwells remains a privately-owned, independent business, a Partnership, with an inclusive, entrepreneurial culture. This is an excellent opportunity to join our Planning team and for the right person we can offer excellent opportunities for career progression. In addition to this, you will have excellent technology to support you (everyone works from a Surface Pro and gets an iPhone) and the chance to work in a modern and agile working environment.
