Help us transform into a better, greener Met

To do our best for our vast and vibrant city, we’re transforming the way we work. We’re enhancing our estate and working smarter to meet the challenges of policing a global capital. As our organisation changes, we have an exceptional opportunity to reduce its impact on the planet. Join us as an Environment Advisor and help the Met lead by example.

With a remit that extends right across the Met, our Environment & Sustainability team has a diverse and critical role. As well as supporting the wider Property Services Department, the team upholds environmental principles and co-ordinates activities in our many different departments as well as collaborating with the GLA and other GLA group organisations. Your task is to implement our environmental strategy, supporting the Head of Environment & Sustainability.

We’ll look to you to co-ordinate the Environmental Management System (EMS) and handle challenges day to day. You’ll see that we comply with regulations but also work towards driving improvement in our environmental and sustainability performance. A subject matter expert, you’ll influence key policies while raising awareness of environmental matters through communications and training. You’ll also be the person to speak to about any environmental or sustainability issues.

Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant Environmental Science subject, you’ll have a background in Environment/Sustainability Management. You bring in-depth knowledge of your field including statutory requirements, plus genuine enthusiasm for environmental best practice. It’s exactly the kind of approach that will inspire and motivate others. And with your excellent communication skills, you’ll present persuasively and write compelling reports. Organised and able to analyse data too, you’ll be a good teamworker who can manage programmes and an ever-changing workload.

To apply, please visit our website to download a role specific information pack. Applications will be via an online application form and supporting CV.

Completed applications must be returned by 15th March 2019

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today’s complex policing challenges, we need a workforce made up from all of London’s communities. Applications from across the community are therefore essential.
