Our client specialises in commodities and supply chain management. A vacancy currently exists for an electrically biased Maintenance Technician to be based at the company’s new food processing facility in the West Midlands. The position is directly responsible for the daily maintenance and repair of the CHP (Combined Heat and Power), Crushing and Refining Plants, Utilities and Infrastructure at the facility. The position is seen as being multi-skilled, undertaking electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical, maintenance and installation works as needed. Working a standard 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, and an On-Call rota system to cover for out of hours plant issues. Main duties include: • Daily Predictive and Preventative Maintenance work during normal plant operations. • Scheduled/Planned Maintenance activities in support of the Maintenance Management System. • Recording and reporting of Plant Monitoring data as required. • Assistance of Process Technicians in the event of plant failure. • Active contributor to the Environmental, Health, Safety and Food Safety of the general site operations. • Breakdown maintenance on a 24/7 basis, shared responsibility through a Call Out Rota System. • Scope of activities to cover all disciplines; electrical, instrumentation and mechanical systems. • General housekeeping and cleaning of the working areas. Skills/Experience required: • Minimum 5 year’s maintenance experience in a Processing and/or Manufacturing environment, primary skilling being in electrical or mechanical engineering but with significant secondary skilling in or electrical or mechanical works. • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering education from City and Guilds, Higher National Certificate level and above. • Minimum 5 High School O Levels C- Grade, at least 1 in either Maths or Physics/Chemistry or equivalent. • Knowledge and understanding of typical SCADA, Operator Interface control systems, and PLC based plant operations. • Ability to perform in challenging production environment and sufficiently self-motivated to bring value to the RCMA business. • “Safe by Nature” and demonstrable low/free accident work history. • Experience in modern maintenance practices to include CMMS, Predictive Maintenance technologies, Tribology and Preventative Maintenance Best Practices. • Power Generation and/or Electrical Systems qualifications and/or work experience. • Previous working experience in Food Processing/Packaging business and understanding of the Food Safety/HACCP systems needed in such an operation. • Ability to work well in a small team. • Good communication skills.
