Our client, a leading national hazardous waste treatment company, is looking to recruit a Technical Waste Assessor to be based at its hazardous waste treatment facility in the North West. In this role, you will ensure that all incoming & outgoing waste is correctly classified and that an auditable trail of records is maintained according to site procedures. Key Accountabilities: • Follow site pre-acceptance, acceptance, sampling & compatibility procedures according to WM3 to technically assess waste enquiries. Ensure sufficient information is supplied, including samples where required. • Ensure all information required for quoting, transport & acceptance is logged on the system. • Understand site processing capabilities to enable routing of waste. • Request pre-acceptance samples, ensure these are logged onto the system, and advise on pre-acceptance analysis requirements • Ensure compliance of all waste quotes with site permits & waste management licences. • To liaise closely with the Central Customer Services, Sales and Operational functions to ensure smooth and efficient operation. • Ensure pre-acceptance information is complete and available at time of acceptance, including plant & route. • Advise on transport, labelling & consignment note requirements. • Review completed waste acceptance documentation to ensure routes and costs have been allocated correctly. • Inform sales managers of non-conformances and communicate reasons for surcharges or rejections. • Key point of contact for sales managers in providing advice on waste treatment & disposal options Essential Requirements: • Degree in chemistry or related subject • Knowledge of WM3 and ability to apply it to classify waste • Understanding of ADR regulations ability to classify waste for transport • Confident in the use of IT systems and able to utilise bespoke company IT programs • Excellent organiser & communicator Desirable Qualities: • Working knowledge of the operation of a Waste Treatment Processing Plant • Good working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation • Numerate with an understanding of business costing • Experience of Salesforce or other CRM or Waste Management IT system
