Responsibilities

  • Managing geo-environmental and geotechnical projects for clients and teams
  • Providing technical support and controlling project costs
  • Overseeing ground investigations
  • Contract administration and preparation of specifications
  • Soil and rock logging including laboratory scheduling
  • Geotechnical and contamination interpretation
  • Preparing and checking reports
  • Preparing proposals and tenders and contributing to business development
  • Mentoring and supporting new team members and imparting your knowledge and expertise to less experienced employees
  • Establishing and developing strong working relationships with new and existing clients integral to the growth of the Geosciences department in Hemel Hempstead and the wider business
  • Providing technical leadership in the day-to-day delivery of projects

Capabilities & Qualifications

  • BEng or BSc or equivalent in Geology, Geotechnics, Environmental Science or similar
  • Typically a further degree in Soil/Rock Mechanics, Engineering Geology, Geotechnics or equivalent
  • Chartered Engineer/Geologist with a relevant professional body or working towards Chartered status with a relevant institution (e.g. CGeol, CEng, RoGEP)
  • A thorough understanding of geology, ground investigation works, engineering geology and geotechnical engineering
  • Significant and demonstrable track record of geotechnical inspections, studies, design and reporting, preferably on residential developments
  • Ability to complete factual and interpretative assessments, deliver projects, work within a multi-disciplinary consultancy and write proposals that are technically sound and commercially accurate
  • Technical leadership and mentoring skills
  • Strong evidence of managing time and resources effectively and within budget
