Principal Consultant - Land Quality (Contaminated Land/ Geo Environmental), London and Worcester

Due to ongoing commercial success and a busy forward order book, SLR is looking to expand its London and Worcester teams with the appointment of Land Quality (Contaminated Land) consultants at Principal grade.

(Please note that whilst ideally we are looking to appoint at these grades, we are also happy to hear from experienced professionals working at a more strategic level who could bring significant commercial opportunities and who might join as a Technical Director).

Joining as part of a UK wide team of leading Land Quality professionals working within SLR’s unique “one team” culture, this position presents an outstanding opportunity for contaminated land specialists, risk assessors and/or hydrogeologists within a truly multinational consultancy and offers significant potential for career development and enhancement based on performance.

We would expect candidates to have a proven track record in business development together with demonstrable experience working for an engineering or environmental consultancy, and have played a key role in a range of projects in the residential, commercial, oil and gas, due diligence and manufacturing/industrial sectors.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Identifying opportunities to provide specialist land quality and geo-environmental services to new and existing clients, principally in the built environment, industry, oil and gas mining and minerals, power sectors and actively working to deliver these opportunities to SLR;

Participate in building and maintaining new Client relationships – gradually taking on sole responsibility for developing key relationships

Assisting other senior members of the LQ team, Service Line Managers and Sector Leaders in bidding for and winning multi-disciplinary engineering work from new and existing Clients;

Managing, resourcing and overall cost control of land quality or related geo-environmental projects undertaken by regional team; and ensuring timely delivery and completion of projects.

Technical review of land quality reports, drawings and advice provided to Clients;

Keeping abreast of technical innovation and regulatory / legislative change impacting the land quality sector, both nationally and internationally and ensuring SLR is well placed to take advantage of such change;

Mentoring and technical training of junior colleagues;

It is envisaged that the successful candidate will have the opportunity to be actively involved in the management and expansion of the regional technical team as time progresses.

PERSON SPEC – SUMMARY

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Recognised professional within the Contaminated Land Consulting sector with demonstrable technical expertise (candidates should also be able to demonstrate commercial and BD capabilities, increasing as grades progress through Principal and Technical Director)
  • Geology, Hydrogeology, Geotechnical or similar geo-science degree level qualification (or higher), and Chartered status (Ceng, CGEol, CIWEM or equivalent)
  • Full driving licence.
