Job Description

SLR has an established reputation for the provision of value adding Environmental Management, Permitting and Compliance (EMPC) services to clients across a diverse range of sectors.  We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced permitting / compliance specialist to support continued expansion of our services with a particular focus in the South West regions and industry sector albeit with the flexibility to work on projects throughout the UK and Internationally.

Our EMPC team provide support with permit applications and associated regulatory assistance, compliance monitoring, management system development and implementation and a host of associated services to a client base that extends across industrial, minerals, waste and power sectors.

This role is placed at a Principal Consultant grade (but a Technical Director level appointment would be considered for exceptional candidates) and would suit someone looking to take that next step to build and lead their own team from a solid network of southwest regional contacts and successful project experience.


The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with other team members to capitalise on our extensive client list with a particular focus on expanding further the company’s EMPC offer in the South West region.  Our service opportunities encompass a wide range from direct support to existing individual site activities and new developments through to services to corporate headquarters.
You will be a proven work winner in your own right, with an appetite to unlock and develop new and existing client opportunities and relationships. You will also play a key role in evolving the wider team by recruiting, developing and mentoring staff.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of providing clear, problem solving, outcome focussed and successful advice on a range of permitting, compliance and EMS topics to a variety of clients in the Industry sector.  You should be experienced in providing the lead advice in client meetings and presentations, built on a strong working knowledge of relevant legislation.  Experience of project management and co-ordinating the inputs from technical specialists will be an advantage and lends itself to the delivery of an integrated offer to clients.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.


Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
• Demonstrable consultancy based permitting, compliance and EMS experience and excellent knowledge of legislative and regulatory context.
• A Regulatory background would be beneficial, though is not essential.
• Business development, team management/growth and project delivery expertise gained within consultancy
• Relevant degree and membership of professional institute
