We are seeking candidates with radioactive waste management and environmental permitting experience to join wood Environment and Infrastructure Solutions sector leading team. Our team works on exciting Nuclear Sector Projects involving review, challenge and development of processes and systems, supporting strategy development and decision making with a genuine outcome focus.

We are seeking highly motivated environmental consultants, at senior consultant grade, to join our sector leading team and support our growing client base in the UK and overseas. With a particular focus on regulatory services for nationally significant nuclear developments and maintaining a diverse portfolio of clients throughout the industry you would, as part of our team, be responsible for both technical delivery and in driving growth of our business in the UK, Europe and other global locations

We have opportunities available in our offices located in the South of the UK including Reading, London and Bristol.

Key Responsibilities

Working with high profile Nuclear industry clients your role will involve the delivery of projects covering environmental permitting and regulation, which in the UK relates to the Radioactive Substances Regulations and the Radioactive Substances Act. Areas of experience relating to radioactive waste management, environmental optimisation, radiation protection, radioactive substances activity environmental permitting, environmental risk assessment, strategy and policy development will be considered.

Dependent on grade, you will either lead or support client interactions and relationships and the scoping of individual commissions, preparing proposals, negotiating with clients, managing projects and subcontractors, analysis of results and writing reports in line with client and regulatory requirements.

    You will have a relevant first degree (or equivalent) in geography, science or engineering and preferably a science or engineering related second degree. Awareness of the environmental issues facing clients in the nuclear industries and a broad understanding of relevant legislation.Ability to hold security clearance at SC level or above.Confident verbal and written communicator with experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams.You will be self-motivated, organised and thorough and be able to demonstrate application of initiative to deliver a task or project to high standards.You will have an analytical mind and be able to demonstrate a track record in problem solving and reporting.

    Post-graduate experience of working at nuclear licensed sites, in a consultancy capacity, additionally, experience as a Regulator would be valuable. You will have an awareness of business and project management systems.
