Our client is a leading Multi-disciplinary Consultancy currently recruiting for a Principal/Associate Ecologist located in London.  

The successful candidate will act as part of a Multi-Disciplinary team providing ecological inputs in support the delivery of a major infrastructure scheme. The company will be involved in the co-ordinating of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), working in a range of pre-construction contracts associated with preparations for delivery. 

The successful candidate will have around six years or more experience of working as an ecological consultant, with a proven track record of providing terrestrial ecological inputs to infrastructure projects, including assessment in accordance with the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) guidelines.

Essentials
-Terrestrial ecology consultancy experience;
-Experience of contributing to EIAs for major infrastructure schemes
-Detailed knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy and Environmental Impact Assessment;
-Excellent report writing skills;
-Acting as a specialist in one or more areas of terrestrial ecology which may include protected species;
-Comfortable working within a team, or alone
-Good communication skills
-Flexible approach to working hours to meet the demands of the role, including occasional longer/and or unsociable hours, and to work away from home on occasions
-Ability to manage own time, and to mentor and motivate others
- Experience of undertaking Phase 1 habitat surveys and protected species surveys;
-Full Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
-Experience of ecological assessment in accordance with the CIEEM guidelines for terrestrial impact assessment in the UK

Advantageous
-Higher degree in a biological science or related discipline;
-Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) or Chartered Ecologist (CEcol) status
-Experience of managing projects and/or individuals
-Advanced botanical identification skills;
-Holder of protected species survey and mitigation licences
