Senior Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant - Bristol / Exeter

A great opportunity has arisen for a Senior Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant. Ideally you will have worked on large and small infrastructure projects. Experience with Flood Modelling packages Floodmodeller, Tuflow, HEC-RAS would be advantageous. There is a generous salary and benefits package on offer and well and a chance to develop and grow the Flood Risk and Drainage department.

Essential
  • Excited about the prospect of helping to grow the Flood Risk and Drainage department
  • Appropriate degree qualification (e.g. BSc in Geography / Environmental Sciences, BEng in Civil Engineering)
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience (in flood risk and drainage for planning and/or drainage engineering)
  • Competent in the completion of flood risk and surface water drainage assessments for developments (variety of types and scale)
  • Competent in the analysis and interpretation of surface water drainage data for defining conceptual drainage strategies
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft packages and experience in understanding the outputs from CAD and GIS packages
  • Experience in project and finance management - including managing deliverables and client expectations
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills, enthusiastic, dependable and proactive, problem solving


Desirable
  • Able to operate effectively within a small team yet equally competent to be able to think and work independently
  • Appropriate Masters degree qualification (e.g. MSc / MEng) and/or appropriate chartership (e.g. CIWEM, ICE)
  • Experience in completing projects for clients based in the South West and/or working alongside professionals in transport planning
  • Experience in completing flood modelling for developments (preferably using ISIS/Floodmodeller, Tuflow, HEC-RAS packages)
  • Experience in completing surface water drainage modelling - such as drainage design and/or network analyses (Microdrainage)
  • Experience in the use of CAD packages (e.g. AutoCAD, PDS) and/or GIS software (e.g. ArcGIS, MapInfo, QGIS)
  • Experience in preparing fee proposals and in communicating with clients on scopes of work and fee. An existing client base a bonus.
  • Conceptual and innovative thinker, able to provide clear and concise advice to clients and co-professionals
