Wildlife Conservation Lawyer (maternity cover)
This is an exciting opportunity for a lawyer to contribute to ClientEarth’s Wildlife Conservation Project. In this role, you will address issues relating to the management, protection and restoration of biodiversity in the EU, with a focus on marine biodiversity.
This will include work to protect wildlife from the damaging impacts of marine plastics pollution. You will use your legal skills to help develop and promote coherent, effective and transparent legal frameworks, as well as to ensure better implementation and enforcement of conservation legislation.
The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of EU Environmental Law, particularly the Birds and Habitats Directives and some experience of engaging senior audiences. More generally, you are a highly organised, efficient worker able to handle a number of competing priorities, a skilled communicator in diverse settings, with good interpersonal and relationship building skills. Excellent written and verbal skills in English are essential.
The role is a maternity cover position and will commence in January 2018. The position is available for 9-12 months. We are open to consider requests for part-time employment (80-90% of full-time).
Salary bracket for this role is £39,000 - £43,000 per annum (full-time equivalent) depending on experience.
