Environmental Design Lead, freelance, HS2
Urgently seeking an experienced EIA consultant to undertake an 8-month contract working on HS2, with probable extension. The role is to start within 1 - 2 weeks
My client requires an experienced EIA specialist for an immediate start. Based on site South East of Birmingham. 1 day a week home working is available should you wish.
My client is a highly-regarded consultancy who have a key role supporting HS2 phase 2a. In this role, you will be responsible for the interface between engineering and environment teams in the continuing development of the design. The focus of this role will be to ensure environmental considerations, including the need for mitigation, are included in the design, in collaboration with environmental discipline leads and civils and rails systems engineers.
You will act as the Environmental lead, in liaison with the C861 environmental topic teams, on the development of design options/alternatives and managing the information flow to environmental topic teams.
The desired experience is as follows:
·Environmental degree or equivalent
·Demonstrate previous people management skills
·Ability to maintain strong working relationships
·Oversees workload of the C861 Environmental Design Assistant
·Identifies resource issues and highlights issues to the C861 Environmental Coordinator
·Representing the project at HS2 meetings and leading on environmental aspects
·Attends weekly progress meeting and provides report
·Provides input to the assumptions register, risk register etc
·Good verbal and written communication and report writing skills
You should have demonstrable evidence of typically over 10 years' experience of acting in a design interface/EIA capacity on major infrastructure projects, ideally with broad and general appreciation of environmental issues across all disciplines.
We can offer significant rates of pay, with a possible extension of work beyond this initial phase.
