Senior-Intermediate Environmental Engineer/Consultant (Contaminated Land)
Due to winning a number of exciting and complex projects and coupled with a strong base-load of work, opportunities have arisen for two intermediate to senior level Environmental Consultants/Engineers to join the UK & Ireland Site Characterisation & Remediation Team, to be based out of Nottingham, Leeds or Bourne End.
As our ideal candidate, you will have a consultancy background and will be able to utilise your previous contaminated land experience and knowledge of environmental legislation on interesting and technically challenging projects throughout the UK and overseas. This role would suit an intermediate to senior level Consultant (with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience) who is looking for progression and development opportunities in their next role.
Your key responsibilities will combine both office and site-based duties in the field of site characterisation, to include environmental investigation, designing desk-based assessments and site investigations for characterisation and assessment of land quality in relation to soil, ground gas and groundwater. You will demonstrate your experience through effective management of site investigations and supervision of subcontractors, and through the collation, assessment, interpretation and reporting of site investigation data to develop conceptual site models.
We are looking for a strong communicator, who has excellent technical writing skills as well as strong interpersonal skills. You will have a minimum of a BSc or BEng in a relevant science discipline (e.g. Geology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Environmental Geology , Hydrogeology or similar) and ideally an MSc in a related subject. Coupled with your academic qualifications, will be previous consultancy experience working on contaminated land projects where you will have developed site-based skills, demonstrating excellent health and safety awareness at all times. You will also have solid reporting skills, showing attention to detail and time-management ability. Commercial acumen and client-facing skills are also important, so proposal preparation and scoping of technical tasks should also form part of your current role.
As there will be a requirement to travel it is essential that you hold a full UK driving licence and be able to travel and work away from home both in the UK and overseas.
