Due to the on-going success of our Construction business, we are looking to recruit a Construction Electrical Engineer into our existing team of Engineers, Project Managers and Designers where our services have assisted Clients with more than 2GW of wind plant through construction, and with an additional 850MW at various stages of construction through to the operational phase and beyond.  We work on some of the most interesting and challenging renewable projects in UK and abroad.  This is an ideal opportunity for those looking to develop a career in a vibrant industry where we hold a leading presence.

The Role

Reporting into the Senior Electrical Engineer your primary role will be to provide Electrical Engineering services to Clients on major renewable energy projects from initial pre-construction development though to project handover.  In particular you will provide expert advice on the grid and electrical infrastructure elements of wind farms and other renewable technologies. 

A full job profile is available on request, however a selection of duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide electrical engineering assistance to staff and clients as necessary to maintain the successful delivery of projects and maintain positive working relationships (including, but not limited to, grid connection management, electrical engineering expertise, due diligence etc.);
  • Represent clients at meetings with National Grid or the local DNO to act as the clients engineer and ensure the best interests of the client and project are served;
  • Develop specifications and audit procedures to assist in the successful delivery of client projects;
  • Prepare regular reporting of progress and key issues to the Senior Electrical Engineer;
  • Actively encouraged to use and grow your skill set to bring value added engineering to each project.

You will have an interesting and challenging workload from day one.

Knowledge and Experience

You will be degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or other similar technical qualification.  Ideally this this will be complimented by a postgraduate qualification and or membership of a relevant professional body such as IET.

Further to academic qualifications, it is essential that you have relevant electrical engineering experience in a similar role with a Utility, Consultancy or Contractor, fulfilling comparable duties and responsibilities as outlined above. You will have a strong grasp of the overall commercial aspects of the role including client management and should be equally happy in the office as on site.  Knowledge and or experience of construction/asset management and relevant grid and electrical infrastructure with regards to Wind Farms (or similar) would be highly advantageous.

The role demands that you have strong IT skills, being competent with the Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.  Further to this, experience with Project Management software, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Document Management software would be highly advantageous.

You will possess excellent communication skills being able to convey clear and concise information in a professional manner in both written and verbal format to staff, clients and third parties alike.  You will be capable of working as part of a team and independently being able to prioritise and manage your own time in line with the changing needs of the business.  You will have an eye for detail and will be capable of producing error free work even when under pressure. 

Due to nature of business and role, you will be expected to be flexible with your time, location and standard duties.  A full drivers licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

The position will be based from Ochil House in Stirling (FK7 7XE).  Recently refurbished to an excellent standard, the office is just off the A91 with easy access to the M80 and M9 motorways.  For those taking public transport the office is twenty minutes’ walk from Stirling train station.  For those more active, there is a bike shed, store room and showers available (why not take advantage of our bike to work scheme).  Further to this, we are next to The Peak sports complex offering; gym, pool, various courts/pitches, climbing wall amongst other things (why not take advantage of our corporate membership).
