Quality Assurance Manager

The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of nine Catapults set up by the Technology Strategy Board to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.  Based in Glasgow, the ORE Catapult will accelerate the development of commercially viable technologies applicable to offshore wind, wave and tidal power.  The Programmes team will be populated by project managers, health and safety, quality assurance and project controls and document management professionals who will identify, develop and implement world class innovation programmes. 

The Quality Assurance Manager will work in the Innovation Programmes Directorate creating the ORE Catapult’s internal Quality Management Systems to achieve the recognised standards most appropriate to the business model, such as LRQA or similar.


  • Ensuring the project and programmes work carried out by the ORE Catapult is in full accordance with the Quality Management System you have implemented
  • Auditing collaboration partners’ Quality Management Systems to ensure they are fit for purpose and where they are not engaging in consultative processes to improve them
  • Ensuring consistent application across all of the work streams within the ORE Catapult
  • Promoting Quality Management Systems principles and practices through provision of specialist support and advice to project management professionals throughout the ORE Catapult
  • Developing effective systems and processes for compliance with all relevant environmental standards
  • Developing and implementing a Quality Management System, which meet ISO9001 principles throughout all areas of the ORE Catapult to deliver continuous and ongoing performance improvement
  • Supporting the identification and development of key performance indicators
  • Identifying quality training needs across the ORE Catapult and implementing an appropriate programme of professional development in this area in conjunction with HR and external partners
  • Identifying potential issues and shortfalls in Quality Management Systems and developing a strategy to communicate and rectify areas where remedial action is required


  • Educated to minimum of degree level in a technical discipline
  • Accredited Six Sigma Engineering Blackbelt
  • Experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control
  • Previous experience of implementing, maintaining and improving internal Quality Management Systems
  • Extensive quality management experience within the electricity supply industry or a similar capital intensive industry where there is a power element, such as rail or oil and gas production
