The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of nine Catapults set up by the Technology Strategy Board to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.  Based in Glasgow, the ORE Catapult will accelerate the development of commercially viable technologies applicable to offshore wind, wave and tidal power.  The Innovation & Technology team will be populated by sector and engineering specialists who will identify, develop and implement world class innovation programmes. 

The Sector Specialist Tidal Energy will work in the Innovation and Technical Directorate ensuring the Innovation & Technology group maintains a current and accurate understanding of the tidal energy sector and is able to respond to requests for support and assistance in the development and delivery of innovative technical solutions.


  • Supporting the Strategy and Technology Directors, and their teams, with initial assessment of submitted concepts and proposals ensuring that scope (deliverables), scheduling and resourcing issues are fully addressed
  • Leading and directing concept phase resources from the core/non-core teams on a project by project basis
  • Planning and executing project plans utilising Project Management methodologies, tools and resources as provided through the Project Services and Planning Manager
  • Coordinating the activities of multi- discipline teams consisting of core team members and specialists in delivery of programme and project concepts
  • Coordinating concept project activities and risks associated by owning all aspects of delivery and creating an environment of accountability for performance and results
  • Providing input, support and expertise to cross business teams to ensure that input is given to early stage development activities
  • Providing regular and ad-hoc reports to senior management within ORE Catapult Management Team and beyond
  • Building cross-functional collaboration and partnerships with external suppliers proactively managing external dependencies and interfaces
  • Controlling budget for concepts and projects


  • Educated to a minimum of degree level in a technical discipline, preferably with chartered status
  • In-depth understanding of the tidal energy sector
  • Knowledge of current technologies and developers
  • Network of key industry players and major stakeholders
  • Understating of the key barriers of tidal energy development
  • Excellent planning and analysis skills
