Our Environment Consultancy group are currently recruiting for an Ecologist to work on a variety of projects in our Basingstoke office.

We have permanent opportunites as well as opportunites for candidates on a fixed term (6mth) basis.

You will be part of a large and successful national ecology team in a multidisciplinary office. The job will entail:
1.Organising and undertaking extended Phase 1 habitat surveys, and protected species surveys (including surveys for great crested newt, reptiles, water vole, bat and badgers) either alone or as part of a small team;
2.Undertaking desk studies, literature reviews and data analyses where required;
3.Preparing reports for review by senior members of staff
4.Liasing with project managers and clients where necessary;
5.Assisting other members of the team with field work and reporting;
6.Providing advice to clients, or referring queries accurately to other members of the team.

The right candidate will have BSc in a Biological science or related environmental science along with previous consultancy experience. Ideally you'll have a qualification in botanical identification or similar and you will have experience in protected species survey.
You should have basic knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, policy and ecological impact assessment and being a member of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management and/or Chartered Institute for the Environment would be advantageous.
