Use your analytical expertise to plan the future of our seas.
About the challenge
Marine planning is a new approach to the management of our seas – setting the direction for decision making at a regional level. Take this innovative and exciting new role, and you will help ensure a sustainable future for our coastal and offshore waters.
About the role
You will collate, analyse, and synthesise evidence to support the development, monitoring and reporting of marine plans. Working closely with colleagues throughout the organisation, you will help us to understand and interpret information, data, and stakeholder views. We’ll look to you to take the technical lead for at least one topic or sector. A flexible and focused team player, you will not only deliver the marine planning process, but also help to develop it and apply lessons learned along the way. Put simply, you will make your mark as you shape the future of our seas.
About the individual
Keen to make this role - and this discipline - your own, you will have a degree in a relevant subject together with experience of working on marine or coastal evidence and issues. Known for your strong analytical skills, you will have a proven track record of interpreting data covering a range of topics or sectors and using critical thinking to address challenges. Knowledge of GIS would be desirable. A flair for IT will be vital. You may also have experience in assessments including undertaking sustainability appraisals, habitat regulations or environmental impact assessments.
