Planning & Development, Senior Project/Consents Manager

Due to the on-going success of our Planning & Development Services department, we are looking to recruit a Senior Project/Consents Manager (or Project Manager depending on level of experience of the successful candidate) into our existing team where our services have assisted Clients with Consenting more than 2100MW of Energy projects, 1300MW of which are offshore. We are currently providing development services to Clients with in the order of 3.6GW of current applications
We work on some of the most interesting and challenging renewable projects in the UK and Ireland, where you will hold a pivotal role in managing EIA co-ordination, contractors and the consultation process. Reporting into the Principal Manager, you will have responsibility for successfully taking major energy projects from initial site feasibility, through EIA Co-ordination and to Planning Consent. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team working towards a common goal. A full list of duties and responsibilities is available on request; however below are the fundamental elements of the role:
- Project Management, including EIA Co-ordination and consent management
- Budget Management
- Stakeholder liaison
- Regular reporting
- In particular you will focus on the onshore grid connections (substation and cable route) package within the overall consent of a substantial offshore wind project.
Knowledge and Experience
You will be degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant field; ideally this will be complimented by a postgraduate qualification. Further to academic qualifications, it is essential that you have demonstrable experience in a similar role with a Consultancy or Developer, fulfilling comparable duties and responsibilities as discussed above. Applicants may also have gained relevant experience from within a statutory consultee body.
We are looking for a highly motivated and technically capable individual with experience of managing the overall consent process for infrastructure projects; ideally you will have experience of delivering onshore grid connection (substations and cable route) and other renewable energy projects. Further to this you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the overall commercial aspects of the role including client management.
You will be capable of working as part of a team and independently, being able to prioritise and manage your own time in line with the changing needs of the business. You will have an eye for detail and will be capable of producing error free work even when under pressure. Proficiency with I.T. is essential and exposure to Enterprise Resource Planning and Customer Relationship Management packages would be highly advantageous.
You will possess excellent communication skills being able to convey clear and concise information in both written and verbal format to staff, clients, consultee bodies and other third parties alike. Further to this, you must be comfortable presenting to groups and leading public consultations. As a result of this, you will have excellent interpersonal skills being able to develop and build relationships with all stakeholders. Ideally you will be able to evidence management skills and have a positive track record of developing and mentoring junior members of a team.
Due to the nature of the work, it is essential that you hold a valid full driving licence and are prepared to travel to client sites within the UK or abroad.
The position is based from our modern waterfront office in Aberystwyth.
