Project Engineer - Maritime Security
This reputable organisation are seeking a Project Engineer to join their Maritime Security team!
To provide project engineering support to the full range of security products and services by supporting designs from initial concept in Engineering and through the production process ensuring compliance with internal Company procedures and standards and customer requirements are met.
1.To coordinate the product development of equipment from design stage with Engineering and through to production. This will involve sourcing of new components from external suppliers in conjunction with Materials Controls, creation of sketches/mock up diagrams to aid the design or production process, creation of special-to-type test equipment, etc.
2.To drive the timely production and delivery of prototype units from design through to the finished systems, coordinating activity company wide including Engineering, Software development, Production and Sales.
3.To identify and rectify faults from component through to system level either personally or through specialist internal resources.
4.To develop and undertake rigorous bench, in-water and environment testing/trials procedures to validate the integrated hardware/firmware/software prototype elements and deliverable configured systems.
5.To monitor and progress chase all related hardware and software activities/actions which are being managed by internal employees and external suppliers and to escalate potential or actual issues which may affect the project delivery to the relevant senior management.
6.To ensure all manufacturing, test, design change, problem reports and support documentation is completed in compliance with internal Company standards and procedures and customer quality requirements for example unit test procedures, system FAT, SAT, etc.
7.To coordinate the in house and external testing of new products to ensure compliance with the relevant international design standards for electrical safety and CE marking requirements.
8.To organise and support during in house systems testing of hardware and software to ensure that products meet the Company quality standards and performance requirements.
9.To provide usability feedback to design authorities and to other operational departments to ensure existing and future systems requirements provide maximum customer satisfaction.
10.To support with engineering trials, customer demonstrations and installations (UK based) for all Maritime Security engineering products. This will involve the design of any special test equipment and mounting arrangements.
11.To develop and maintain excellent relationships with hardware, software and firmware specialists across the Company and with 3rd party suppliers for example soft or hardware design companies, to ensure collaborative working and an efficient and timely delivery of project deliverables.
12.To operate a 'safety first' approach at all times, complying with company policies, procedures and practices relating to occupational health and safety, including the following of safe working procedures, wearing of PPE, undertaking H&S training and escalating any observations of activities or aspects that could adversely impact employees' health & safety, or that of others, resulting from work activities.
13.To comply with all Customer mandatory Health & Safety rules, whether onshore or offshore, as advised via HSE scope of work, pre-work inspections, tool-box talks and specific on-site requirements, reporting back to Management where incidents occur and escalating instances where risk to personal health and safety is identified.
14.To understand and comply with all Company Polices and Procedures. Including the Observation Report procedure, Engineering Change Note system and Software Test Track.
15.To keep up to date with all Company product and technological advances through attendance on Company training events, access and awareness to technical bulletin updates and personal liaison with internal Company technical resources eg Engineering, GBM's, specialist trainers etc
16.To contribute to the continuous improvement of the Maritime Security Division and Engineering Department through the identification of potential changes and initiatives aimed at increasing productivity, efficiency and improving the overall team and department's function.
Project Values:Ranging from £250K - £1m +
*Knowledge of the Maritime Security industry sector including product design, specifications and applications
*Hands on scientific lab/workshop prototype engineering experience
*A good working knowledge and understanding of mechanical fitting
*Practical experience using environmental test equipment (Thermal chambers, vibration equipment, tensile tensometers, pressure pots)
*Relevant and practical experience of testing and fault finding from system to PCB level
*A good working knowledge of computer and networking systems
*Working knowledge of Fibre Optics communications
*Relevant experience of working in an offshore/offsite environment
*Proven ability to co-ordinate and drive delivery of key engineering projects
*Ability to read engineering drawings
*Basic 3D CAD Modelling and drafting experience using Autodesk Inventor or similar
*Knowledge of Syspro ERP system or similar
*Experience user of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, CRM Project etc)
