Department of Energy and Climate Change - Offshore Environmental Inspector Opportunities The Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) works to make sure the UK has secure, clean, affordable energy supplies and promote international action to mitigate climate change.
The Offshore Oil & Gas Environment Unit is responsible for developing the environmental regulatory framework for offshore oil and gas exploration and production, offshore gas unloading and storage and offshore carbon dioxide storage on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS), and for administering and ensuring compliance with the regulatory regime.
We are looking for talented and suitably qualified professionals to join us as Inspectors in Aberdeen preferably with Drilling; Production; Maintenance; Subsea experience.
The inspection team is made up of dynamic people from a wide range of disciplines and with varied specialist knowledge who ensure that all environmental aspects of offshore exploration and production activities are monitored competently.
You will be responsible for working closely with oil & gas operators to ensure satisfactory implementation and compliance with offshore environmental regulations via assessment; inspection, investigation and enforcement.
You will contribute to a planned inspection programme, maintain a regulatory overview of a portfolio of operators and their offshore assets, investigate breaches of offshore environmental legislation and participate in an on-call incident response rota.

The post will require travel to offshore installations and other travel in the UK and overseas as required. All posts are offered on a permanent basis.
The nature of the roles is such that there may be opportunity for flexible working patterns subject to the needs of the business, following a successful probation period.
