We are currently looking to recruit CAE Project Managers as part of our continued growth, attribute roles required include NVH, Durability, Crash and Interiors.
The primary responsibility is to manage and deliver the attribute with a predominantly offshore CAE team to support product design, and development activities within the automotive industry. The role requires significant attribute specific knowledge, and proven project/people management skills. This person will interface directly with the customer engineers and suppliers at all levels. Good communication skills are vital to ensure good customer relationships and the ability to produce resolution plans is paramount. This person must be able to work to deadlines and plan the available resources accordingly. This is a management CAE role and as such requires a self-motivated and proactive individual who is able to predict and resolve programme risk. The confidence to escalate issues and present at a senior level is critical for this role. This engineer will interface with senior management within the OEM and TTL offshore and onsite. The Manager may be responsible for billing and controlling other financials of the projects. Some commercial appreciation is desirable.
*Lead the team through the Virtual product development process using CAE analysis tools for a specific attribute (either NVH, Durability, Crash or Interiors)
*Lead the team in extensive usage of CAE and FEA tools for product development
*Guide and mentor the team to use software tools that are most appropriate for individual analysis and ensure robust results
*Prioritise the workload to best support the customer and programme demands
*Proactively develop CAE techniques and process to improve the delivery to the customer
*Ensure that the team gain experience and understanding that allows them to enhance their performance as the programme progresses, and thereby increase customer confidence in delivery.
*Verify the engineering calculations necessary for the production design of these components and systems. Create new load case methods as required (based on lessons leant, risk analysis etc)
*Establish good working relationships with internal team members, suppliers, and customers.
*Provide leadership and understanding of the offshore team and ensure that they are enabled to deliver.
*Determine the requirement for onshore support and manage this resource alongside the offshore resource. This will include hardware and software requirements etc
*Ensure levels of communication are conducive to a successful programme and implement improvements on an ongoing basis. Dissipate conflict pragmatically.
*Participate in the governance meetings to give a responsible assessment of the team performance
*A proven track record of attribute delivery on an automotive programme with experience of leadership and project management
*Excellent technical understanding of the attribute to be managed
*Good knowledge of the attribute associated CAE tools
*An appreciation of other attributes and the associated attribute interactions
*Clear communication skills at all levels: both spoken and written.
*Organisational skills are a pre-requisite for this role, and a clear understanding of 'real' priorities
*Proven vehicle development experience with the ability to robustly problem solve, particularly when under pressure.
*Extremely good communication skills at all levels and with different cultural groups are a must.
*Has extensive CAE, and FEA based experience. Some secondary experience with another attribute code would be beneficial.
*Good experience in CAE based development for structural projects
*Has some experience in product testing and subsequent CAE correlation
*Well versed with all Windows personal computer software (office) and proficient with excel and Powerpoint.
*The candidate should be able to work well with the wider team and take responsibility for the actions of their own team.
*Travel to India to work with and liaise with the offshore team will be mandatory. Actual timings and frequency can be discussed on an individual basis.
Attribute Specific Requirements
*The candidate should have working level knowledge in pre and post processing of software used for their given attribute.
*It is desirable that the candidate has experience in a leadership role.
*The candidate should have some prior experience of project management as it is anticipated that 60% of their time will be spent on project management and 40% on CAE analysis. This will differ and be wholly down to the programme status at any one time.
*The candidate must be capable of communicating the FEA and CAE requirements and results to the customer and the TTL team, some of whom may have limited CAE experience.
*The candidate should be capable of communicating design requirements to the Vehicle design and integration teams.
*The candidate should 'ideally' have experience in communicating with an offshore team keeping in mind the time zone differences and effectively using all the project management tools available to ensure success.
*The storing of all data generated and reports created are an important part of this role (auditing etc). The candidate must be willing to work to processes and strive to improve those processes on an ongoing basis. Good recording skills are also required and cannot be under-estimated.
*Candidate should be capable of working with Tier 1 supplier for both body design and CAE work.
