Project Manager Marine Energy

Glasgow, Glasgow City £Negotiable + Bonus and Pension

The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of nine Catapults set up by the Technology Strategy Board to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.  Based in Glasgow, the ORE Catapult will accelerate the development of commercially viable technologies applicable to offshore wind, wave and tidal power.  The Programmes team will be populated by project managers, health and safety, quality assurance and project controls and document management professionals who will identify, develop and implement world class innovation programmes. 

The Project Manager Marine will work in the Innovation Programmes Directorate ensuring that wave and tidal projects and programmes initiated by the ORE Catapult are managed to deliver within the constraints of agreed timescales, budget and finance structure.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Supporting Strategy and Technology Directors and their teams with initial assessment of submitted concepts and proposals ensuring that scope (deliverables), scheduling and resourcing issues are fully addressed
  • Planning and executing project plans utilising Project Management methodologies, tools and resources as provided through the Project Services and Planning Manager
  • Implementing appropriate organisation structures for managing the individual projects and programmes
  • Leading and directing the execution phase resources from core/non-core teams on a project by project basis
  • Coordinating all project activities and risks by owning all aspects of construction and creating an environment of accountability for performance and results
  • Providing regular and ad-hoc reports to senior  management within ORE Catapult Management Team and beyond
  • Building cross-functional collaboration and partnerships with external suppliers and proactively managing external dependencies and interfaces
  • Recommending and advising on appropriate strategies to ensure and maintain positive commercial position
  • Controlling budget for projects and programmes
  • Contributing to early-stage development projects, giving advice to the team members on “deliverability” and commercialisation

 

 

 

 

Requirements

  • Educated to minimum of degree level in a technical or engineering discipline, preferably with chartered engineer status
  • A recognised project management certificate or diploma, such as PRINCE 2, Association of Project Management, Project Management Professional or similar
  • Extensive project management experience within the electricity supply industry or a similar capital intensive industry where there is a power element, such as rail or oil and gas production
  • Experience of negotiating and managing detailed commercial contracts and exposure to industry standard contracting templates, such as FIDIC
  • Excellent planning and analysis skills
