We help organisations scope and plan their sourcing strategy, select and contract with outsourcing service providers and support clients through transition and implementation.

Shared Services and Outsourcing Advisory is a key offering for KPMG and it is therefore an exciting opportunity to help further develop and grow our business within an established team.

The Role

Within Operational Transformation Advisory (OT) we help organisations position their business for growth and reduce their overall cost of operation through defining Operating Strategy, Operating Model Development & Execution, Business Performance Optimisation and upstream & downstream Supply Chain Performance Optimisation.

We are currently recruiting into the Business Process Sourcing practice within OT, and we are specifically keen to meet individuals with an in-depth experience of Global Business Services (GBS). GBS is the next stage in maturity for organisations looking to drive increased value from their operating models, particularly where some shared services and outsourcing has been deployed. GBS delivers business support services to customer organisations, by deploying common processes, tools and best practices, generating synergies across multiple function areas (e.g. Finance, HR and IT) by consolidating activities into one centralised function. Services are delivered on a global scale - using centres of expertise, captive shared services and outsourcing - to optimise scale and capabilities across all functions.

We are especially interested in candidates with supply side experience - there are a lot of people who can do the demand side design and transition, but fewer who have really built and delivered the supply side - that is the talent we are seeking! We require the service management/governance thinking which we believe candidates, who have either built GBS organisations or have been part of a BPO/ITO build out, will possess.


As a Senior Manager within OT you will be responsible for providing leadership, developing and designing client solutions, generating new business, coaching and development of team members and running non-client initiatives of the firm (e.g. training, risk management, etc).

As Engagement Manager/Project Manager you are likely to have a leadership role in coaching both your team and the client team in the following areas. We are therefore looking for specific experience and skills in:

- Full lifecycle experience of a transformation programme from strategy through detailed design to implementation

- Working across functions (F&A, IT, HR, Procurement etc) to drive change

- Experience building SSC or BPO/ITO delivery capability, in particular service management and governance

- Experience working in a global capacity, ideally working with or delivering from an offshore location

- Experience in transitioning and/or delivering GBS, SSC or BPO services

You will actively support the Partners and Directors by developing client relationships to enhance the reputation of KPMG as advisor of choice and further identify client opportunities in the Shared Services and Outsourcing space. Furthermore you will be responsible for managing client engagements to support the Engagement Leader and ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget.

Qualifications and Skills

Experience in Pharmaceuticals, Energy & Natural Resources, Consumer Markets, Technology, Media and Telecoms will be advantageous.

In addition to sector experience we are specifically interested in meeting candidates with F&A/BPO sourcing skill-set and capabilities (across the sourcing life-cycle), with 7 to 10 years of relevant experience with one of the following backgrounds:

Expected skills and capabilities include:

- Proven outsourcing, shared services and/or consulting experience, including evidence of leading significant change projects

- Robust understanding of the F&A Function of a large organisation, including interdependencies with the supply chain and the business units

- Operating Model development expertise

- Evident leadership skills with experience of managing direct reports and/or project teams

- Industry accreditations such as MBA, CIMA, ACA

- Facilitation, presentation, interviewing and influencing experience

- Enthusiastic and driven, with keen problem solving and business skills
