Mechanical Engineer (CAD)

They are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer with CAD (Pro-E) experience in their office on the South Coast of England.


The Wind Turbine Blade Design and Development group is responsible for :

- Blade products from early concept to final product.
- Design and development of blade structural components, mechanical systems, blade health monitoring systems.
- Interface with turbine design teams (including PI and other turbine components)
- Liaise with PBUs and CIM internal customers

The Design for Manufacture and Systems department ensures;

- The blade design is cost effective, robust and easy to manufacture
- The blade design intent is clearly communicated.
- The integrity of the blade design intent is maintained throughout the product's lifecycle.
- The Technology contribution for supporting the product in service and in production is met from a design perspective
- Key knowledge and learning from experiences in the field and production are brought back into the design process for future products..


Principal Responsibilities & Tasks -

- Support the design and development of next generation of wind turbine blades;
- Work with Composite Engineers to develop conceptual ideas into practical solutions;
- Creation of component and assembly drawings to relevant ISO standards;
- Act as reviewer for other CAD Engineers;
- Creation and maintenance of items & BoMs within ERP system;
- Responsible for developing own technical solutions, coming up with new solutions;
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team capabilities and toolset;
- Maintain strong collaboration with the composite structure design team.


- Degree in Mech engineering/Product Design
- HNC/HND or equivalent
- Relevant industry experience
- MUST have Solid hands-on experience of Pro-E
- MUST have relevant experience within composite component development
- Strong knowledge of PLM Systems
- Prepared to work in an environment under constant change
- Rigorous attention to detail
- Self-starter and willing to learn
- Ability to think out-side of the box and challenge existing designs
- Good communication skills in English, both oral and written
