Senior Technical Manager
Natural Power is a leading independent renewable energy consultancy and products provider offering consultancy, management and due diligence services across the onshore wind, offshore wind, wave, tidal and biomass sectors. Due to the on-going growth of the Technical Department, we are looking to recruit a Senior Technical Manager who will take charge of an existing team of talented Analysts and Engineers. We work on a diverse range of interesting and challenging projects using state-of-the-art tools and methodologies that are recognised at Credit Committee levels by Banks and Financial Institutions in Europe and the USA.
We are offering an exciting opportunity to take responsibility for the leadership and management of our Technical department based in Stirling. Working closely with the Director of Technical and the wider global technical team, you will be responsible for generating and coordinating client leads and new business, and managing existing client relationships. Your role will be to empower the team with an ability to exceed client expectations in terms of the delivery of a wide range of technical services for on- and off-shore wind farms.
In addition to the managerial aspect of the role, you will also be responsible for providing technical wind analysis services to clients as well as providing oversight and quality assurance on analysis work being delivered (more information on this available on request). We invest heavily in new product and service development and we would expect you play a pivotal role in the continued development of our tools and methods.
Our multi-disciplinary approach to wind farm development provides a unique opportunity to interact with other functions within Natural Power and learn from experienced resource across all departments. We are currently involved in projects across Europe, America, Africa and Asia, and have technical staff in Scotland, France, Sweden and the USA.
Qualifications and Experience
You will be degree qualified in an engineering or scientific discipline with a particular focus on fluid dynamics and mathematics. Ideally this will be complimented with a Masters or Post Graduate qualification. Further to academic qualifications, it is essential that you have a proven track record of providing technical Wind Analysis services (on- and offshore projects; pre and post construction; and due diligence), working for a similar Consultancy or Developer.
You must have an excellent understanding of the UK and Irish renewable markets in particular (additional International experience would be highly beneficial); with a proven track record in a client facing role conducting business development and client management. Further to this, you will be experienced in managing this pipeline to ensure workload is delivered on time and to budget.
You will be highly motivated with prior experience of managing a team of technical staff; as a result, you will have honed interpersonal skills being capable of building lasting relationships with your team as well as wider Natural Power divisions and third parties. You will be highly organised, being capable of managing both your own and others challenging and often conflicting workloads. You will have excellent communication skills, being able to convey clear and concise information in both written and verbal format. This is of particular importance in the preparation of written material such as, tenders and due diligence reports.
You will be analytical and meticulous by nature, with an ability to solve problems in an innovative manner. The role demands that you have excellent IT skills, being competent with packages such as
WAsP/MS Micro and WindFarmer/WindFarm and in addition to this; you will be capable of learning new bespoke packages and technology at short notice.
Due to the nature of the role, a driver’s license is essential.

The position is based from our office in Stirling. Due to on-going success and growth we will be moving to a newly refurbished office in Stirling towards end of Q3 2013.
