Working hours 8.00am to 4.00pm core hours (with 30min lunch break). Additionally, as-and-when required outside core hours to enable successful completion of role.
Established in 2008, this company is focussed on providing best-practice total waste management solutions to UK industry, particularly the automotive industry. Already employing over 40 staff, the company handles or processes a wide range of "waste" materials, both metal and non-metal. The company has invested in best-practice scrap processing equipment and utilises a broad network of subcontractors to maximise recycling whilst providing safe, compliant, cost-effective solutions. Initially, it focussed on supporting one specific car manufacturer but since 2010 successful business with other customers has been established. There is a very strong intention to build upon this success. (In the past 10 year the Group Company has established "Green Metals" businesses in 11 countries).
From early 2013, the current Director/General Manager will be required to focus much of his time working for the company on another significant project. Consequently, an Assistant General Manager is required to progressively take over much of the General Management workload, reporting to the current Director. This role will be demanding, however, for the right candidate this really is an exceptional opportunity, with good prospects for further career development in future.
Main Duties of the role
- Commercial & Financial performance in accordance with the agreed budget
- Efficient Operations and Capital Improvement ensuring the following:
- High levels of operational efficiency (on-site operations, waste handling and processing)
- High levels of customer satisfaction, where possible exceeding their expectation.
- Effective marketing, brand-building and new business development
- Proactive benchmarking and management of continuous improvement
- Implementation of strategy and policy approved by the Board of Directors
- Effective business planning, budgeting, risk management and management reporting
- Best practice Health, Safety & Environmental performance
- Employee Performance Management. Resource allocation, objectives, review & appraisal
- "General affairs" Management (I.T., facilities management, admin functions etc.)
- Support development of Company strategy and policy, as guided by the Board of Directors, making proposals and recommendations where appropriate
- Liaison with Group support staff
Key Skills and Expertise Required
Essential:
- 3 years success in a Senior management position
- Strong commercial experience
- Auto industry experience (or similar)
- Strong communication / IT skills
- Full UK drivers licence
- Degree qualification
- Flexible and adaptive
- Systematic approach to management (PDCA)
- Passionate, enthusiastic, professional approach
