About us
People at our heart. That’s the Aster Group. From affordable housing to care and support, we’re a group of ethical businesses working together to have a positive effect on people’s lives. Aster Property manages Aster Group’s asset management and commercial activities. We also maintain and repair homes owned by Aster Group, and provide maintenance services to other organisations. Everything we do makes a difference.
About the role
With more than 17,000 homes and over 40,000 customers, and a potential merger with Dorset’s Synergy Housing with 9,000 homes, it’s clear to see why sustainability and environmental management is a huge priority for Aster Group. In fact, it’s a commercial necessity. We’re already seen as a forward-thinking organisation in this area, regionally and nationally – as evidenced by winning six environmental awards in the last three years – but we appreciate that there’s more we need to do, more you’ll help us to do. In this high profile and high impact role, your goal will be to continually improve our sustainability and environmental work, making sure that we’re delivering on our promises while complying with company standards and relevant legislation.
You’ll lead corporate sustainability and energy efficiency across all Group companies, from how we approach the impact of our offices and depots, through to energy efficiency and long-term renewables strategy for our customers and homes. We’ll also look to you to maintain and develop the Group’s ISO 14001 environmental management system, which covers everything from waste management to biodiversity, ensuring that we’re effectively monitoring and reporting the environmental impact of our work.
About you
An environmental professional, you’ll be able to call on a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of environmental developments, news and legislation, preferably in relation to organisational environmental management and/or property management. We’d also like you to have a relevant environmental/sustainability degree and a good working knowledge of H&S procedures. Confident, credible and charismatic, you’ll be an inspiration to colleagues, customers and stakeholders alike, encouraging them to play a part in making our sustainability ambitions a reality. You’ll also have a talent for building strong working relationships internally and externally. With experience of developing policy and strategy and delivering high-level reports, you’ll be used to sharing and communicating complex environmental information in a way that everyone can understand and relate to.
