Description and Desired Qualifications
A highly motivated Environmental Consultant with experience in the physical environment (contaminated land, geology, hydrogeology, hydrology) related to environmental impact assessment (EIA). Good interpersonal skills. International experience preferably in developing countries. Successful candidates will be educated to degree or post-graduate level in a relevant geosciences technical subject, and will likely be based in our London office. Field experience of soil / sediment / surface water / groundwater sampling, supervision of monitoring well installation, aquifer testing, data logging and field report writing is desired.
Fluent spoken and written English is mandatory. A working knowledge of another/other languages will be a plus. Candidates should have an interest in working on international projects including post-conflict and/or transitional economies / emerging markets. The candidate should have experience of contributing to EIA / ESIA / ESHIA reports, baseline investigations, environmental and social management plans, monitoring plans and evaluation.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities within the role will include undertaking research assignments for baseline data gathering, the ability to draft baseline and contribute to impact assessment sections independently with senior support , an interest in travel (typically on short term assignments) for field activities. The candidate would be expected to contribute to proposal preparation and project delivery. Good communication skills, both written and verbal will be required. The successful candidate must have initiative, energy, enthusiasm and commitment, be interested in travel globally (as required) and be flexible in work approach .
Basic Qualifications
Good people skills, some experience with upstream oil and gas and/or petrochemicals and/or renewable / international lenders / alternative energy clients and/or extractive industries internationally, plus the following attributes:
· Degree level education in a geosciences related discipline
· 5 up to 10 years experience in environmental consulting, e.g. EIA, environmental site assessments of contaminated land, environmental auditing, remediation
· A team player
· Fluent spoken and written English, additional languages would be an advantage
· Strong technical report writing skills
· Good computer skills, MS Office suite
· EU Citizen or eligible for work permit
