Senior Environmental Consultant
Parsons Brinckerhoff combines the skills, experience and creativity essential for the total delivery of many and varied contaminated land assessment and redevelopment projects for both the public and private sectors. PB is involved in all stages from feasibility/strategy, planning and design to programme and construction management, operation and maintenance.
Our contaminated land and remediation services include Phase 1 Preliminary Risk Assessments (desk study), Phase 2 intrusive investigations, gas/ groundwater monitoring and the supervision and verification of remediation works. We also have staff that work with our clients and with universities to explore innovative and cost effective solutions for brownfield sites. Clients include blue chip petrochemical companies, utilities companies, local authorities etc.
PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:
The purpose of the role is to contribute to the growth of the Glasgow Environmental Engineering team by assisting with project management and delivery of contaminated land site investigation and remediation projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To support the Team Leader in the project management and delivery of contaminated land projects. This will include both office and site based work.
- Site investigation sampling/ field manager/ supervision of contractors - to undertake field based work including supervision and management of site investigations including third party contractors and PB staff (variable periods on site) – preparation of accurate site records;
- To undertake factual and interpretative technical reporting from investigations and remediation projects, including analysis of results – attention to detail and accuracy is required.
- Remediation projects – to assist in option appraisals and design of remediation projects, and supervision or technical oversight of remediation works on site.
- To develop client and third party liaison skills as well as technical skills as either project manager or technical specialist;
- To undertake defined technical tasks within existing and new projects to produce deliverables on time to the required quality and to budget.
- Be familiar with current environmental legislation in particular related to groundwater, surface water and contaminated land.
- To work well within a team environment.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Experience of contaminated land investigation and assessment gained in a consultancy environment. This should include experience of undertaking fieldwork, preparing interpretive reports and managing small-medium sized projects.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Degree level qualification in geology, hydrogeology, civil / environmental engineering, chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental science or environmental technology. Appropriate post graduate qualifications, e.g. MSc, a significant advantage.
