As an experienced Ecologist in our Leeds team your role will involve organising and undertaking extended Phase 1 habitat surveys, and protected species surveys (including surveys for great crested newt, reptiles, water voles, bats and badgers), undertaking desk studies, literature reviews and data analysis, preparing reports to a high technical standard and within deadlines, including survey reports, ecological appraisals, constraints reports etc and the production of ecological impact assessments in line with IEEM guidelines.
You will also assist in the production of environmental impact assessment documents including ecological input to scoping reports, environmental statements etc to the highest standard in accordance with project timescales and you will also liase with project managers and clients where necessary as well as undertaking other tasks to support the wider environmental business as required.
As the ideal candidate, you must have current ecology experience within a consultancy and experience of undertaking Phase 1 habitat surveys and protected species surveys, you will have knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy and EIAs and you should be willing to undertake regular field work. You will need to have a driving license and we're looking for someone who has a higher degree in a related subject as well as various protected species licences, ideally you will also be a member of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management and/or Chartered Institute for the Environment.
