Our client is a professional management solutions company with an exceptional reputation, demonstrated by numerous industry awards. A vacancy has arisen for an Assistant Environmental Engineer to assist in ensuring the safe and efficient control of all site environmental and chemical activities.
You will make sure that the optimum treatment regime is established and maintained to provide for best protection to plant assets whilst minimising any negative effects of operations. Your main responsibilities will be to:
-Ensure there are adequate procedures for the control of all environmental and chemical activities on site.
-Assist with all audits of site chemical services.
-Manage and report all environmental aspects of systems as they impact on the station's integrated pollution control and authorisation.
-Liaise with colleagues in reporting to the Environment Agency in line with IPPC and EU ETS requirements.
-Assist with staff training.
-Provide advice and input on all projects that impact the plant and environmental chemist designated areas.
-Liaise with the SHEQ Manager to ensure all statutory obligations are met and any new legislation is complied with.
-Assist in the management of all waste control facilities in respect of design, layout, procedures, compliance, notification and control.
You will be qualified to at least HND level in chemical engineering, chemistry or an environmental subject. Relevant experience in a chemical related industry, e.g. steam/electricity production in a 24/7 environment is essential. You will have excellent knowledge of steam or water chemistry control as well as environmental monitoring/control and associated legislative requirements. You must also be comfortable using Microsoft Office.
