Our client is currently seeking a Senior Benthic Marine Taxonomist to join an enthusiastic and ambitious team established in the South West of England. The team provides high quality services including survey, taxonomic identification and analysis, and consultancy.
The chosen applicant will have the opportunity to work on an exciting mix of different projects covering marine conservation, marine renewables, marine aggregates, ports and more.
To be successful in this position you must have proven skills and experience as follows:
 
Accurate identification and verification of benthic fauna found in marine & estuarine grab samples collected around the UK
Accurate identification and verification of epibenthic fauna found in marine & estuarine trawl samples collected around the UK
An appreciation of the need to work quickly and efficiently within a commercial laboratory
Efficient and accurate recording of data
Participation in surveys of marine & estuarine environments
Acknowledgement of the diversity of colleagues and their different needs and the ability to treat each person in a fair and appropriate manner
 
You will have a degree in marine biology (or equivalent) and a substantial level of experience and expertise in benthic & epibenthic identification and enumeration gained in the UK.
 
Experience in video analysis would be an advantage.
