Environmental Manager for offshore wind farm projects

Would you like to use your competences to support the operation of our offshore wind farms?

Join us and become our new Environmental Manager in the Environment and Licensing department.

Together with 13 committed and skilled colleagues, you will be responsible for preparing planning permissions, delivering environmental impact assessments, managing environmental surveys and ensuring that we fulfil consent conditions. Furthermore, you will handle contact with specialist consultants, regulators and other stakeholders.

The department is responsible for preparing environmental impact assessments and consent applications and manages environmental surveys, specialist consultants and environmental monitoring programmes. We also cooperate with regulators to ensure compliance with all conditions for our operational wind farms.

The department is part of Wind Power, a large and rapidly growing business unit with 1200 committed employees. You will be joining the world's largest developer of offshore wind energy, and currently, more than 300 engineers are working with several large-scale offshore wind projects in the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark and France.

You will be based at our London Belgravia office in the United Kingdom. However, you should expect some travelling to our other sites in the United Kingdom and to Denmark in connection with your work.

Areas of responsibility

You will primarily prepare planning applications and ensure that we fulfil environmental conditions in the pre-construction, construction and operational phases.

In addition, you will manage the process relating to environmental impact assessments, including contact with specialist consultants, and you will review, edit and produce specific chapters in our environmental statements.

Furthermore, your key duties will be to:

  • handle communication with stakeholders and regulators to resolve environmental issues
  • prepare budgets and programmes for environmental impact assessments and environmental surveys
  • manage, coordinate and execute planning applications and environmental tasks on wind projects
  • perform environmental monitoring surveys, including scoping, tendering and commissioning.

You will also have the opportunity to become cross-project lead on core environmental topics, such as ornithology, marine ecology, archaeology and offshore physical processes.

Your profile

You will have a relevant engineering education at Bachelor or preferably Master or PhD level within environmental science, environmental management, marine science or similar.

You will have a good understanding of environmental impact assessments and the onshore and offshore planning and licensing system in the United Kingdom. You will also have a good understanding of the marine and terrestrial environmental issues.

Furthermore, you will hold a professional environmental qualification, such as IEMA or similar, and have specialist knowledge of some of the areas concerning offshore and onshore environmental impact assessments relevant to offshore wind farms and their onshore grid connections.

It will be an advantage if you have a project management qualification, such as Prince® or PMP. You will have experience in commissioning or in participating in conducting onshore and offshore environmental surveys. In addition, you will have good all-round knowledge and experience of managing environmental impact assessments and planning consents, particularly for offshore wind farms.

As we are an international company and cooperate closely with our colleagues, it is important that you have excellent communication skills and are able to write and speak English fluently. It is also important that you have the skills necessary to facilitate communication and cooperation with your colleagues and stakeholders, even in challenging situations.

Furthermore, you will have an analytical and structured approach to your work ensuring a high quality of processes, coordination, communication and follow-up. In addition, you will be able to focus on creating high-quality results through teamwork and cooperation with other departments in the organisation.

We offer

A unique and challenging job in an international energy company. You will work with competent and dedicated colleagues who value knowledge sharing and sparring.

If you are flexible, persevering and thrive on challenges, you will be able to influence where our company is going. In return, you will experience great colleagues, lots of social activities, new initiatives and build your professional competences on a daily basis.

We encourage a feedback culture, and we especially focus on leadership, processes and development of our employees' competences.
