Description and Desired Qualifications
A highly motivated Environmental Consultant with environmental investigations, contaminated lands characterisation, soil and groundwater remediation and project management experience (around 6-10 years) is sought. Experience with multi-national corporations, good interpersonal skills and international experience are assets. Successful candidates will be educated to degree or post-graduate level in a relevant science, geosciences, engineering or environmental technical subject, and will be based in our Lyon, France office.
Fluent spoken and written French are mandatory; advanced English language skills written and verbal are essential. Clients and team are international and working knowledge of other languages is also beneficial. Technical specialisation in hydrogeology, contaminated land remediation or remedial engineering would be a plus. The candidate should have solid experience contributing to groundwater monitoring plans, environmental site investigations and contaminated land remediation projects in France.
Responsibilities within the role will include the ability to lead and manage project teams and contribute to deliverables (with a focus on environmental site investigations and contaminated land remediation), management of client relationships, budget control, and co-ordination of in-house and external specialists and contractors. The candidate would have flexible balance of technical and management skills and be expected to contribute to proposals and project delivery. A high level of communication skills, both written and verbal will be required.
The successful candidate must have initiative, energy, enthusiasm and commitment and be flexible in work approach .
Some travel to project sites and meeting would be required, though the primary work location will be Lyon, France. Responsibility for maintaining project teams that safely delivering quality work is key.
Basic Qualifications
Good people skills, experience with multi-national clients and contaminated land and soil and groundwater remediation plus the following attributes:
· Educational background in a science, geosciences, environmental or engineering related discipline
· Approximately 6 to 10 years of related project experience
· Team management and leadership experience
· Proven experience with French regulations
· Strong project management and project delivery skills are essential
· Experience with risk based decision making and focus on sustainability
· Fluent spoken and written French; similar fluency in English is required; additional languages an asset
· A technical specialisation would be a plus (e.g. hydrogeologist, remedial engineer)
· EU Citizen or eligible for work permit
· Ability and willingness to periodically travel and support work at project sites (up to approximately 25%)
