URS requires an experienced Health & Safety and Environmental consultant to play a key supporting role in delivering our transactions and compliance service offering from our Manchester office.
As a HSE Consultant, you would be expected to support a range of industrial health & safety and environmental compliance consultancy projects, based primarily in the UK, contributing to the delivery of high quality reports to industrial clients, government agencies, the legal profession etc, consequently a good understanding of industrial HSE issues (preferably gained through work in industry), a working knowledge of management systems, risk assessment, pollution control techniques and environmental, health and safety legislation is essential.
Experience of managing small to medium sized projects would also be beneficial, as it is hoped that delegated responsibilities within a given project will increase in line with experience. This position is likely to be based in Birmingham or Manchester (final location may be negotiable), although there will be a requirement to travel within the UK, with occasional away from home office work requirements.

• Support the delivery of HSE compliance and management system projects (likely to predominantly be focusing on health & safety issues), environmental permit or COMAH applications, impact assessments and sustainability reporting.
• Provide health & safety focused support in detailed industrial due diligence and corporate compliance audits, often involving multiple audit days / team members and working in the presence of the corporate client.
• Preparation of technical and commercial proposals for internal peer review and senior management approval.

You must have significant experience in health & safety management (preferably industrial), having been responsible for managing or advising on health & safety and environmental compliance activities / business risk. You must possess the practical skills to effectively understand and apply HSE requirements in an industrial setting and have the knowledge or experience of a range of industrial facilities and sectors (e.g. oil & gas, power, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, heavy engineering, food & drink etc).
