Our client operates globally providing certification of management systems, personnel and products. It is accredited for these activities by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) and is appointed as a 'notified body' by the UK Government under European Directives. It is a £7M business employing 75 people across three main sites in the UK and is the UK operating division of a global £110M testing and certification organisation.

Reporting to the Certification Manager (based in Chester), you will manage an audit programme from the site in Kent working alongside other Certification staff. You will be responsible for maintaining accredited services both in the UK and overseas and contributing to the development and continual improvement of company processes and services.
Ideally with previous Certification Body experience, you will be a 'hands-on' manager and team member committed and responsible for delivering an excellent service.

Principle responsibilities and duties include:
-Operation of certification activities as defined in the company Quality Manual
-Manage resource according to workload
-Monitoring of staff competence, interviews and audits
-Review audit reports and make certification decisions
-Maintain and extend accredited services worldwide; preparing, planning and participating in accreditation audits
-Development and continual improvement of certification processes
-Acting as a mentor or evaluator for other staff
-Customer-facing, participating in sales and marketing activities as required
-Carry out work assignments at other locations in the UK or overseas as necessary
-Other duties assigned by the Certification Manager or Business Manager

Qualifications
-HND/Degree qualified in an engineering discipline
-Trained ISO 9001/ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001 auditor/lead auditor/principal auditor
-Excellent written and verbal skills, pragmatic and credible with a high standard of personal presentation
-A minimum of five years' experience in, or providing consultancy to relevant industry sectors such as engineering, manufacturing and technology-based companies

Skills
-Knowledge of certification processes, accreditation, and BS EN ISO 17021
-Experience with integrated management systems
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills, relationship building and organisational skills
-Pragmatic and credible with a high standard of personal and professional presentation
-An ability to assist other company business areas in fields such as conducting audits, reviewing audit reports and evaluating the competence of auditors and other staff
-A comprehensive understanding of effective management systems and their role in reducing risk and providing assurance to organisations and their stakeholders
-Ability to apply technical judgements where necessary
-Knowledge of sector schemes such as BAFE, TICKIT PLUS, PAS schemes desirable
