My client is a large multi-disciplinary consultancy with a fantastic reputation in the industry for meeting and exceeding clients needs. Due to continued expansion and a hefty work load of prestigious projects they are currently looking to recruit an additional senior hire in the form of an Associate Director.
Role Overview:
The role is for someone to deliver leadership, technical direction and growth to the London and South East EIA teams. This team is part of the organisations wider Planning, Environment and Design grouping.
The role will report directly the company's Director of Planning and will be primarily based in London but will require travel to the company's other regional offices.
Team Overview:
The company's wider group provides a comprehensive town planning, transport planning, master planning, landscape & urban design, environmental, waste & resource management and sustainability service offering; focused on providing both multi-disciplinary and stand alone high end consulting services to private and public clients (and at the juncture between the public and private) and across all the sectors in which the company operates.
As part of this wider grouping the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Team brings together their expertise in environmental assessment, environmental planning, environmental management and environmental design as well as their Micro-climate expertise (including sunlight, daylight, wind effects and right of light) and their expertise in Sustainable Solutions.
The dedicated EIA team offers a bespoke, commercially minded and comprehensive appraisal, assessment and management service from project conception to completion across both the private and public sectors, focusing on:
*Development Promotion;
*Regeneration and Development;
*Infrastructure Delivery;
*the Natural Environment; and
*Energy & Sustainability.
The team places a strong emphasis on:
*Assisting their client in understanding the plethora of environmental issues facing them to determine the most appropriate and cost-effective solution to meet their needs;
*Balancing technical rigor, editorial skill and stakeholder engagement to produce robust outputs, so reducing the risk of costly programme delays from protracted planning negotiations or legal challenge;
*Integrating environmental and social consideration into the decision-making and design process to deliver enhanced and sustainable outcomes.
Key services include:
*Constraints and opportunities analysis.
*Stakeholder consultation.
*EIA screening, scoping and co-ordination.
*Environmental Statements preparation, editing and review.
*Determination support and negotiation.
*EIA guidance and training.
*Public Inquiry support and expert witness.
Responsibilities:
In this role you will be required to:-
*Lead and grow the EIA team.
*Win work, maximise opportunities and develop new and existing client relationships.
*Prepare commercial proposals and contract negotiation.
*Provide technical direction to the immediate team.
*Undertake environment appraisals and assessments across multiple sectors.
*Act as Project Director and or Project Manager, including on large multi-disciplinary projects.
*Provide mentoring and advice to the team.
*Support the team in terms of professional development.
*Support and contribute to the success of the wider Planning, Environment and Design team.
Candidate Requirements:
You will be:-
*From an Environmental Consultancy or Planning background.
*Have strong commercial skills and experience.
*Proven track record in winning work and developing client relationships.
*Highly literate and numerate with good communication and interpersonal skills.
*Confident to review the work of others, successfully asserting your expertise.
*Expert within the environmental assessment, development, regeneration and construction sectors.
*Wanting to step-up to take responsibility for growing and developing a team.
You will have:-
*A good relevant degree and be a chartered planner, environmentalist or engineer.
*Excellent analytical skills.
*An established or growing identity within the industry.
*Expert Witness experience.
*A full and valid UK driving license.
In addition it would be beneficial if you have a track record of working on major international regeneration and development or alternatively major infrastructure and civil engineering projects.
