Hydro-Logic Ltd. is offering a unique opportunity for career development with one of the UK's leading specialist hydrological and hydrometric consultants. In response to a rapidly expanding workload and increasing opportunities, we are looking to appoint a suitably experienced Hydraulic Modeller in our office near Exeter in south-west England.
You should have prior experience of 1D and 2D hydraulic modelling and design hydrology estimation techniques as applied to river management issues. Experience of the following is a prerequisite for this post:
• ISIS – TUFLOW
• GIS (MapInfo & Vertical Mapper)
• Flood Estimation Handbook (FEH).
This post is likely to suit a hydraulic modeller or hydrologist at an early stage within their career looking to increase their experience of the technical challenges that hydraulic modelling offers. An independent thinker with strong problem-solving skills, you should be able to work on your own but also as part of a team. A confident approach to modelling projects is required including experience of the preparation and management of survey contracts and Flood Risk Assessment. Strong data management experience would be viewed favourably – especially knowledge of programming and GIS.
Familiarity with a range of hydrological and hydraulic modelling software packages is desirable. Experience of urban flooding issues, pluvial modelling, SuDS and coastal modelling would be an asset.
You are likely to have a first degree in a relevant subject such as mathematics or engineering. Applicants with other academic backgrounds and relevant experience are also welcome to apply. Effective liaison with our diverse range of clients will be required and you should have good written and verbal communication skills.
Although based primarily in south-west England, you should be prepared to travel and work in our other offices in Bromyard, Reading, Sheffield and Stirling as required.
