Duties/Responsibilities:
Providing practical and engineering waste management expertise to support & lead existing technical advisory contracts on residual waste treatment procurement projects.

Work will include technology appraisals, the development of technical and commercial procurement documentation, undertaking technical solution evaluation including thermal and biological treatment processes, WRATE support, bidder assessment and assisting clients with contract negotiations. 

Support & develop commercial & industrial waste contracts, market assessments and new project opportunities in the renewable energy sector

Support & lead existing projects under framework contracts such as with the Environment Agency, WRAP and Defra, i.e. Quality Protocol developments for new waste streams, Financial Impact Assessments.

Technology and market assessments for biological waste treatment processes and support on renewable energy and SRF research, carbon and WRATE modelling projects.

Business development with public and private sector clients as well as within the group, presentations and papers at relevant conferences etc.

Qualifications and Essential Skills:

A detailed technical knowledge of a full range of waste treatment technologies from thermal to biological processes. Ideally the candidate would have an engineering or similar background.

An understanding of current and forthcoming waste and energy market drivers.

Experience of waste procurement and developing waste disposal and treatment contracts with Local Authorities and the waste management industry

You will need to have experience in a demanding environment in which you have proven that you can apply your knowledge to the development of technical and operational procurement documentation, technology selection, programme development, competitive dialogue and technical bid evaluation involving the latest WIDP and PFI guidance for MSW.

Ideally the candidate would be an influential individual with excellent communication skills, enthusiastic and a good team worker.

This role will also involve developing and growing new business areas in the commercial & industrial sector whilst expanding customer relationships on residual waste contracts. Working specifically with Local Authority clients and Waste whilst leading and directing projects and managing internal contributions.

The role will not only focus on the waste management sector, but also reach into the renewable energy market and include involvement in decentralised energy projects and other carbon reduction approaches.
