Job: Technical Director/Business Developer, Index Environmental

This is a rare, exciting and high profile opportunity to lead the development of our client's business in London and the South East, working closely with established business units. Your key responsibilities in the role will include: 

Developing new business across London and the South East in the full range of relevant sectors, exploiting their strengths throughout the UK.

Giving emphasis to building up work in the Development and Regeneration Sector(s) including work for Property Developers, Housebuilders, Local Government, Regeneration Agencies including the HCA, and Contractors.

Working closely with other teams to access new opportunities, frameworks and contracts, to build their business in target markets, as well as building increased short term pipeline opportunities through existing projects and bids.

Selectively leading and directing key accounts and projects, proposal submissions, technical development and enhancement of their services to meet emerging opportunities and client needs.

Working in close collaboration with both the Sector Team and Product Groups (especially Planning and Environmental Assessment) in order to develop new business opportunities and new product solutions.

Directing the timely and profitable delivery of quality outputs/projects.

Helping to build a quality and flexible resource that can respond to the challenges of this demanding market.

First Degree: BSc Environmental Science/ Engineering/ Planning/other relevant degree

Second Degree: MBA Optional but some form of business management training preferred

Focus: Business Management; Product/Service Development; Service Delivery; Sector/Business Development; Client Relationship Management

To succeed in this role, you will have a thorough knowledge of the London and South East marketplace with emphasis on the Regeneration and Development market, its key business drivers and client needs.

Knowledge of other sectors including waste, transport and education would also be useful. You will also have had responsibility for the successful growth of business turnover against target (through pro-active business development as well as tender completions) and have previously undertaken various roles including client management of key accounts and frameworks, project management, project delivery, and technical report writing.

An understanding of the commercial and liability implications of projects and experience of heading up actual or virtual teams would also be beneficial. Responsibility for motivation and delivery of Business Development is a key requirement of this role.
