About Us

Scott Wilson's tunnelling specialists provide a service both to sectors within the Group as well as undertaking direct commissions with external consultants and contractors.

Existing major projects include the CAT III checking works for Tottenham Court Road Underground Station Upgrade and detailed design works Tsuen Wan 5.0km long 6.0m diameter storm water drainage tunnel in Hong Kong.

A wide variety of works are undertaken by the team in the transport, power and utility sectors which range from no-dig microtunnelling and directional drilling for utilities companies, condition assessment of existing tunnelled infrastructure, through to expert technical assessments for lenders in the financial sector.

About the Role

In line with the growth of Scott Wilson and the award of several framework contracts we are actively looking to expand the core tunnelling business.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a significant role within our core team in Birmingham while also playing an active role in supporting other teams in the UK and overseas.

This is a challenging role within a team of technical professionals, and you'll need to demonstrate experience of managing and undertaking projects with a high technical content.

About You

You should be chartered; a member of a professional body (e.g. MICE); hold a BSc (or equivalent) preferably in Civil Engineering, Civil & Structural Engineering or Engineering Geology; and be interested in tunnelling projects and promoting the tunnelling activities in the transport, power and utility sectors.

In addition, you should have a proven ability to work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and other technical professionals, with the ability to act as a mentor to other engineers.

It is also essential that you have the capability to satisfy client and business expectations, and are able to consider the wider financial and commercial implications of your actions.
