Job: Principal Ecologist, Eden Recruitment Ltd

One of the UK’s leading ecological consultancies has an excellent opportunity for a talented and experienced Principal Ecologist. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and enthusiastic, qualified ecologist with a proven track record working as a consultant ecologist at a high level of responsibility. Your experience should include amongst others: assuming responsibility for all contract-led aspects of the work of the practice, including: job pricing and tendering, contract negotiation, client liaison, contract related project and personnel management, delivery of contract products and review and signing-off the work of others, deputising for the partners in the provision of technical and contract support to ecologists, senior ecologists, and sub-contractors, being able to write technical reports to a very high standard and being able to research new subject areas in a methodical and scientific manner, and to be able to actively contribute to, or lead on, contract research projects. Furthermore you must have good experience of habitat and botanical survey, survey for protected species work including water voles, great crested newt, bats and badgers, and be a recognised specialist in one or more biotic groups. Furthermore as Principal Ecologist you should be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of a wide range of standard survey methodologies covering most biotic groups and how these techniques should be applied. Survey experience of reptiles, white clawed crayfish, otters and other British mammals and birds is highly desirable. Excellent career and professional development opportunities exist.
