PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE ROLE:
The Climate Change division within Enviros is looking for a highly motivated and ambitious person to fulfil the role of Consultant working on programme management projects. Reporting into the Consulting Group Manager, the Consultant will work on a number of projects for high value clients.
KEY PROJECTS/CLIENTS:
The team are currently working on a range of projects for clients including BERR and Defra.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- TECHNICAL: Support team members on a range of projects by undertaking the following types of activity: - Collection and analysis of data - Writing material for publication in reports, guidance notes, newsletters and websites - Site work - Providing advice and information via telephone helplines - Telephone and face to face interviewing as part of research projects - Organisation of and presenting at events and training courses.
- CLIENT CARE: Ensure that all deliverables meet the quality levels expected by both Enviros and its clients. Work is delivered to meet deadlines and within budget.
- COMMERCIAL: Contribute to the development of the business by putting forward ideas, providing constructive feedback and contributing to meetings and group discussions.
- TEAM WORKING: Work with others (including outside of own team) to identify market intelligence that could lead to business development opportunities. Follow direction from Project Managers and other more experienced staff, to work diligently and to ask for support promptly when objectives are unclear or additional clarification is needed to complete work. Work in a way that maximises the effectiveness of the whole team and to be professional, courteous, flexible and supportive to colleagues and clients at all times. Work with manager to develop a career development plan and identify development needs. Take responsibility for own performance and contribute to the performance of the wider team.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants are likely to be educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant subject. (i.e.science subjects, geography, engineering etc). This will preferably be complimented with an MSc (or equivalent) although this is not a pre-requisite.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- The ideal applicant will have experience of working on the delivery of government funded programmes or knowledge of such funding programmes.
- An understanding of climate change policy and of renewable energy technologies would be beneficial.
- Relevant backgrounds and experience will include either working in a consultancy firm or alternatively in an operational capacity.
- Candidates should have good programme management skills including strong communication and organisational skills and attention to detail.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT:
This is a varied role and there will be scope to get involved in a range of activities due to the diverse range of projects and clients that the team is involved with. There are good long term development opportunities for this role.
