Project Managers have overall responsibility for projects, ensuring that they meet customer objectives within the context of business requirements. They are responsible for co-ordinating and guiding all aspects of a project. Required business skills:

Essential · Excellent organisational skills · The ability to exercise sound judgement · The ability to lead teams effectively · A good understanding of commercial imperatives and the ability to work to them · The ability to effectively delegate and manage tasks

Desirable: · Excellent decision making skills, exercising sound judgement in all cases · Good communication skills (oral, written, presentational) · The ability to positively influence and motivate others

Required professional skills: · Project planning · Identifying and analysing risk · Controlling projects and processes · Working creatively

Ideal person: · Demonstrable experience and ability to manage either large projects or a portfolio of small to medium complex projects · Capable of taking responsibility for co-ordinating and guiding all elements of the project · Previous experience of leading and managing teams · Sound reporting skills and the provision of regular updates on progress against plans · Good commercial awareness · Previous experience of managing customer relationships with senior stakeholders · The ability to clearly identify and act on the views and needs of the stakeholders and customers · Skills and confidence to champion change, identifying areas for improvement which will improve the performance of the project or business and demonstrates a personal belief in and commitment to change · Prince 2 or a related project methodology is desirable
