Our Client is looking for a candidate to join their experienced team of Nuclear Consultants to provide a comprehensive and integrated range of design and safety services utilising a multidisciplinary approach and industry-wide best practice. The Role will include: Radiological protection reviews and advice Human performance and behavioural safety Hazard and risk assessments of nuclear generating and nuclear processing plant and operations ALARP assessments and reviews Integrated performance-based assessments of plant, processes and people Safety management systems and reviews Safety case developments and assessments Regulatory compliance Peer review . The role requires knowledge of integrating safety with design. The successful candidate will be part of a team for the design justification process on nuclear safety-related matters during optioneering and design development and support the SQEP development and management of the design team through relevant training and mentoring. You will be part of the key interface between the Design Team and the client. It is expected that as the design develops, the Design House will assume responsibility for the safety case delivery. In this respect, this is a unique and challenging role with considerable opportunity for personal and career development.
Key responsibilities will include:
To provide support to the Design Team on integrating safety case requirements into the design To support the design justification process To support the Design Team's timely input to external safety case processes To support the interface with the project's safety case team To support the team in transition of the safety case delivery To project manage nuclear safety projects
The ideal candidate will require:
Suitable scientific or engineering degree Sound technical or engineering/design background Considerable experience working in a relevant safety environment Knowledge and understanding of nuclear safety legislation including site licensing requirements Excellent communication skills and experience of interaction with clients Ability to work independently or as part of a team Highly motivated, with an ability to thrive in a dynamic and challenging environment Ability to develop others through the provision of training and mentoring Ability to work on UK Defence projects and attain a high level of UK security clearance i.e. candidates will need to meet certain criteria to attain this level of clearance
