Our client is a world leader in power engineering consultancy, providing a wide range of energy-related services to both public and private sector clients. They provide advice to decision makers on matters as diverse as long-term energy plans; tariff studies; energy economics; feasibility studies for new projects; regulatory reform; and valuations, mergers and acquisitions.
In this role you will be working on a variety of energy projects related to traditional large scale thermal and hydro-electric power plants and new and renewable technology developments in the UK and overseas. Our client is looking for experienced energy planning engineers and power economists.
For this role our client is particularly interested in people with a track record in finding solutions to complex problems within deadlines, strong analytical capability and an interest in the electrical supply sector, along with the flexibility required to work in different roles and with different clients both locally and world wide.

Skills Required:
• Bachelors Degree in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent numerical subject) or Economics. • MEng (MIMechE, MIET) where appropriate • Higher academic qualification (MSc or PhD) could be an advantage. • Experience in an energy industry or related sector. • Analytical approach with the ability to blend technical and economic understanding with commercial factors. • Experience of project management and demonstrable achievement in successfully managing projects • A clear ability to articulate complex technical and economic issues to clients and colleagues both in written and oral form. • Fully fluent and able to work (communicate verbally and in writing) in English. • Hold a full UK driving licence. • Be flexible to travel both in the UK and overseas.
Desirable Skills:
• Preparation and management of planning and feasibility studies embracing technical, financial and economic analysis. • Preparation of electrical energy demand forecasts. • Preparation of generation plans • Production scheduling for mixed hydro-thermal systems (including pumped storage plant). • Economic analysis of projects • Development of financial models of projects and utilities. • Tariff analysis. • Oral and written presentation of results to clients. • Development and winning of new business.
