Energy Efficiency Engineer Cambridge £25K - £30K

An exciting opportunity exists in our Clients Cambridge office for a self motivated energy professional. This new role has been created in response to the growth in the energy advice market including energy efficiency and energy management through to the development of innovated design solution using renewable technologies. Initially the position will be within the existing engineering team, however it is expected that in time a new distinct energy team can be established.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to set up and lead a new energy engineering service in a very established business and market. The work will include undertaking energy surveys, producing reports, identifying technological and operational options to achieve energy efficiencies, reduce emission with the overall objective and improving our clients carbon footprint. The projects you can expect to be involved with will range from complex high value innovative schemes for both new and large refurbishments to minor schemes such as boiler replacements and heating upgrades. The client base is very diverse and includes a number of well known blue chip business, Government agencies, local authorities, and health trusts. You will be responsible for the development and growth of a new in-house energy service supporting an engineering and building surveying team and delivering both to the internal and external market. The scope of this role includes:

- Understanding and applying the EED in the context of a thriving design business. - Development of procedures and tools to enhance our energy capability across a national business. - Identifying new opportunities and business development for energy. - Conducting assessment surveys, audits and feasibility surveys. - Preparation of professional energy reports. - Advising our staff and clients on energy matters - Design innovative solutions. - Liaison with statutory bodies in respect of compliance and planning etc - Supervision and monitoring of contracts Requirements

You will have a professional attitude and a very strong commercial awareness. You will be a motivated individual who is able to deal directly and communicate effectively with clients, external bodies and other Atkins staff. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to develop services and win new work, and be keen to develop into a management role managing a small team.

Your background will be in energy engineering or energy environmental consultancy and you will possess experience in the following:

- Engineering or environmental qualification to HND/MSc in Energy or Environment. Preferably you will be a member of a recognised institute - A keen interest in as well as detailed knowledge of energy markets and related environmental legislation. - An understanding of the implications of the climate change levy and emissions trading scheme. - Energy assessments and professional report writing - You must be familiar with current engineering standards, and practices in respect of compliance with Part L, environmental impact and sustainability Our client offers a competitive salary plus a flexible benefits scheme.
